Who we are
Serving Elementary Schools Across Metro Atlanta
Based in Canton, Georgia, we serve PreK-5 elementary schools throughout the greater Atlanta area, with a focus on Cherokee County, Gwinnett County, Cobb County, and Atlanta Public Schools.
We are particularly passionate about supporting Title I schools and districts serving significant English learner populations.
Angela O'Brien-Scheidt, M.Ed.
Founder & Lead Consultant
Bilingual Education Consultant Serving Atlanta Elementary Schools
I know what it's like to walk into a Title I elementary school and see the gap between what students need and what traditional approaches provide.
I've lived the exhaustion teachers feel trying to reach every learner with limited time and resources. And I've experienced the immense pressure administrators face to show measurable growth while supporting overwhelmed staff.
That's exactly why I founded Literacy Futures CO-LAB, LLC – not to tell you what's wrong or hand you a one-size-fits-all solution, but to co-create sustainable literacy improvements with you that genuinely work for your students, your teachers, and your community.

I'm Not Retired – I Know Today's Classroom Realities
Unlike many educational consultants, I just left the classroom in 2025. I know what it's like to teach in a post-pandemic world, to navigate new accountability systems, to integrate technology meaningfully, and to support students with increasingly diverse needs. My solutions are grounded in current reality, not nostalgia.
I'm Bilingual – I Can Authentically Engage Your Spanish-Speaking Families
I don't just say I value family engagement – I deliver workshops in Spanish, create bilingual resources, and genuinely connect with Hispanic/Latino families. In Cherokee, Gwinnett, and Cobb Counties where Hispanic populations range from 24-64% in some schools, this isn't a nice-to-have. It's essential.
I Know Your Curricula – I Can Support What You Already Have
I'm not here to sell you a proprietary program. I have hands-on expertise with the curricula you're already using: Savvas Literacy, Heggerty Phonics, HMH Into Reading, UFLI, Orton Gillingham, iReady, Imagine Language and Literacy, and more. I help you implement what you have with fidelity and achieve better outcomes.
I Use a CO-LAB Approach – I Build Capacity, Not Dependency
I don't swoop in, deliver a binder of recommendations, and disappear. My CO-LAB model means I work alongside your teachers and leaders, building their skills and confidence so the improvements are sustainable long after our engagement ends. We co-create solutions that fit your unique context.
Our commitment
When you partner with Literacy Futures CO-LAB, you get more than a consultant. You get a collaborative partner who:
Listens first – Your teachers, students, and families are the experts on your context
Brings fresh perspective – Sometimes you need an outside voice to see what's possible
Delivers practical solutions – Not theoretical binders, but actionable strategies teachers can use Monday morning
Values relationships over transactions – This work is about students, not contracts
